1) Porsche Museum – Stuttgart
Just a short train ride from centre of Stuttgart, you’ll find yourself in ‘PorschePlatz’, the super cool Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen!
Designed by the renowned architecture firm Delugan Meissl, the museum’s striking architecture serves as a fitting backdrop for its impressive collection of Porsche vehicles.
In fact, this is one of the most legendary and rarest Porsche collections in the world, totalling a whopping $1.4 billion!
From classic models like the iconic 911 and the legendary 356 to contemporary sports cars and race-winning prototypes, the museum showcases the evolution of Porsche’s design, engineering, and performance.
Must See Attractions:
- You can sit in a 5.3L, V10 Carrera GT and have your photo taken for free by the museum!
- Also highly recommend a visit to the Porsche restaurant, not only is the food super tasty, but it’s themed too – the salt and pepper shakers are in the shape of a Porsche car.
- You can also take a tour of the Porsche factory and witness the meticulous craftsmanship and precision engineering that goes into each vehicle – though make sure you book, these sell out 6-12 months in advance!
2) Mercedes-Benz Museum – Stuttgart
Nestled in the automotive heartland of Stuttgart, the Mercedes-Benz Museum is truly a sight not to be missed! Spanning nine floors and over 16,500 square meters of exhibition space, the museum dives deep into the evolution of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, from their humble beginnings to the present day.
Highlights include the world’s first gasoline-powered automobile, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, as well as iconic models like the 300 SL Gullwing, the elegant S-Class sedans, and cutting-edge concept cars.

Located next to BMW’s headquarters in Munich, the BMW Museum celebrates over a century of automotive innovation and design excellence.
The museum’s distinctive “double cone” structure houses the most stunning collection of BMW vehicles, ranging from classic cars and motorcycles to never seen before futuristic concept vehicles!

This is a lesser known museum, but definitely a must visit!
Situated in the automotive city of Wolfsburg, the Volkswagen Autostadt is not just a museum but a sprawling automotive theme park that celebrates all things Volkswagen! I mean, just look at this beauty – it’s a giant vending machine for cars.
Spread across 28 hectares, the Autostadt features immersive exhibits, interactive attractions, and stunning architecture, making it a must-visit destination for automotive enthusiasts of all ages.
Highlights include the ZeitHaus museum, which showcases a diverse collection of classic cars, rare prototypes, and historic vehicles!

Fun fact: When you arrive, you’ll immediately spot the museum’s “Glass Car Towers”, which are actually housing hundreds of new vehicles awaiting delivery to customers from around the world.
5) Audi Museum Mobile – Ingolstadt
Located at the headquarters of Audi in Ingolstadt, the Audi Museum Mobile offers an incredibly in-depth overview of the brand’s storied history, but its not just history on offer either; it features a carefully curated selection of the brand’s rarest and most iconic classics, race cars and concept prototypes, including the crazy Group S car and the Audi Quattro RS002 that never ran!

6) Rosso Bianco Collection – Aschaffenburg
Tucked away in the town of Aschaffenburg, the Rosso Bianco Collection is definitely a hidden gem for automotive enthusiasts, showcasing a private collection of rare and exotic sports cars from around the world.
It’s not all that well known, likely because it’s not paraded around on social media like the rest of my top picks!
Founded by Swiss entrepreneur Fredy Lienhard, the museum features an impressive array of classic Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Alfa Romeos, and other high-performance vehicles, meticulously restored to pristine condition.
With over 200 cars on display, the Rosso Bianco Collection offers a unique glimpse into the world of automotive luxury and craftsmanship.
7) Technik Museum Sinsheim – Sinsheim
Now this one might not sound all that appealing, but if you are up for venturing beyond the borders of Stuttgart and Munich, head to the picturesque town of Sinsheim in southwestern Germany.
This expansive museum is a treasure trove of automotive history, featuring an impressive collection of classic cars, vintage motorcycles, military vehicles, and even aircraft.
Highlights include rare automobiles like the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, the Concorde supersonic airliner, and the Soviet space shuttle Buran.
